Default More Menzies content please and let us fight him

We have a major problem. Guild Wars 2 will be less about the human Gods and more so about Dragons and other races. The big problem is we never got to interact with Menzies.

They need to add some Menzies related content. In the Fissure of Woe you only reestablish Balthazar's dominion over his realm. We do not defeat him, which is why his story should not be overlooked.

Anet should add Menzies based content in one of their updates or update FoW to provide greater insight on Menzies. Even better turn Menzies into a final boss for the FoW we don't have to kill him maybe he assaults one of the towers and is forced to retreat.

It would be really cool if they made Menzies into a commander type boss (always imagined him that way) that fights like paragons. Uses powerful shouts and gets shadow army to fight for him while he throws spears from the back. Could have a fun mechanic like fighting dhuum with his rest bar. Instead of being the same you have to reduce his army and then damage him to make him fall back and retreat. You would fight with the Eternal army helping you out.

Cool things Menzies could do if he turns into a boss. Skill:

"On My Command" - Shout. After 3 seconds Menzies forces initiate a combined attack random target for 5 seconds. 25 or 30 sec recharge. You have to to be pro prot or use fuse like skill.

Rally Squad - Chant. Heals allies for x health, removes all conditions and hexes. Gives 10 health regeneration to allies and 6 energy regeneration for 5 seconds 2 second cast time 20 second recharge

Destructive Spear - Spear attack. Causes x damage does y damage to adjacent foes y damage to nearby foes y to foes in the area. always active

War Cry - monster skill. Causes daze to all foes in spirit range for 5 seconds. Recharges 5 seconds faster for each ally in earshot. 45 second recharge minimum recharge 10-20 seconds depends how overpowered party wide daze is

"Stand Your Ground" - normal skill with high command he has 20 in command skill on hard mode on normal he has 16.

"Find Their Weakness" - he can spike a target fast protective spirit will not mitigate damage destructive spear damage by much because it will be like shockwave.

Envelop in Darkness - Monster skill. Removes all enchantments The next 3 Skills used by target take an additional 15 seconds to recharge. 30 second recharge. You are not supposed to tank him if your taking too much damage you need to fall back.

Reinforcements - Monster skill. calls forth 6 shadow army soldiers to the front lines to guard Menzies. group always consists of 1 healers, 1 ranger, 1 mesmer. 2 wars this group stays near Menzies at all times they will not agro farther than Menzies earshot range. This skill will have 1 min cool down and is disabled x time in some way to make him not able to spawn super army.

The fight vs Menzies takes place in the Great Battlefield. Large numbers of shadow army spawn. they will wipe out the skeletons there. and attempt to go into the Temple of War. They will come in groups. of assorted shadow army that we have faced from different campaigns and some with new skill set to make things interesting. You have tons of Eternals spawn after defending a certain amount of waves.

The Eternals that spawn will go into the Great Battlefield prolly 12-20 decent sized groups. They will take up several formations and provide places to retreat when Menzies pushes in personally his squads will advance more slowly when pushing in to give u breathing room. the shadow army will slowly spike your allies down with "On My Command". So you have to wipe them out when Menzies makes his push, otherwise his squad will be only focusing on your party. When Menzies pushes in NPC get some good buffs from Balthazar to make them stronger and more helpful for 30 sec. That is just so the party does not get overwhelmed.

What do you guys think, do you want more Menzies content. any suggestions to make him cool if we have to fight him.

edit: To make him immune to pain inverter spam because of his super aoe attack he has two Bodyguards these enemies do decent damage use some powerful buff skills but mainly use a monster skill that reduces damage Menzies takes and another one that heals him. Bodygaurds act sort of like generals and his elite guard. They also have very high command 16, They have 10 points in channeling. Generals have natural regeneration of 3 health regeneration.

Skills used: They are paragons/ritualist
a Skill like Oath of Protection - heal Menzies
a skill like Oath of Healing - Menzies takes 25 less damage
"Brace Yourselves" - Shout. For 5...13 seconds, the next time target other ally would be knocked down, all nearby foes take 15...63 damage instead.
"Go For The Eyes" - Shout. For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot makes an attack, that attack has an additional 30...86% chance to critical.
"Help Me" - Shout. You gain 15...75 Health. For 1...8 seconds, other allies' spells targeting you cast 50% faster.
"Crippling Anthem" - Elite Chant. For 10 seconds, the next attack skill used by each party member within earshot causes Crippling for 5...13 seconds.
Warmongers Weapon - Weapon Spell. For 3...11 seconds, if target ally attacks a foe who is not attacking, that foe is interrupted.
Weapon of Aggression - Weapon Spell. For 5...13 seconds, you attack 25% faster.
Signet of return it is lame because when Menzies group moves in they will start rezing dead troops this might be overpowered so maybe they should not have it but I am giving it. They will rez Renforcment troops if you do not interrupt them.

Edit 2: Added more details on Eternal helper squads.

Your Eternal allies will be sturdy their front lines will use some defensive skills and have a priest healers with pressure reducing skills. They will not be able to handle spikes that Menzies Calls when he comes and starts attacking and will slowly be taken out when the Balthazar's buff fades. Allies will become sturdier as They will get Buffed by a Blessing of Balthazar buff that gives them some armor and 3 health regeneration.

Eternal Wars: They will go in with some defensive but offensive skills. there will be 2 per group of Eternals
Soldiers Stance - Elite Stance. For 5...13 seconds, you have a 75% chance to block. You attack 33% faster while under the effects of a shout or chant.

"Watch Yourself!" - Shout. Party members within earshot gain +5...21 armor for 10 seconds. This shout ends after 10 incoming attacks.

Soldier's Strike - Melee Attack. If this attack hits, you deal +10...34 damage. If you are under the effects of a chant or shout, this attack cannot be blocked.

Eternal elemental: They are fire eles that do some aoe damage, only one per group. Your party should be killing not the Eternals

Fireball - Spell. Send out a ball of fire that strikes target foe and all adjacent foes for 7...91 fire damage.

Firestorm - Spell. Create a Fire Storm at target foe's location. For 10 seconds, foes adjacent to that location are struck for 5...29 fire damage each second.

Fire Attunement - Enchantment Spell. For 36...55 seconds, you are attuned to Fire. You gain 1 Energy plus 30% of the base Energy cost of the skill each time you use Fire Magic.

Eternal priest: they will be healers only one per group they have decent healing bars. They will not be able to out heal Menzies forces just buy you time to retreat to a safer place. Priests may need a few extra skills depends the rest of the squad can tank pretty. Maybe give them protective spirit and shielding hand and drop breeze for orison and signet of rejuvenation.

Vigorous Spirit - Enchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, each time target ally attacks or casts a spell, that ally is healed for 5...17 Health.

Healing burst - Elite Spell. Target ally is healed for 5...105 and all party members in the area are healed for 5...17.

Healing Breeze - Enchantment Spell. For 15 seconds, target ally gains health regeneration of 4...8.

Eternal Ranger: There will be 2 eternal rangers in front of each priest beside the elementalist behind the wars. They help snare stuff for you to run when things get ugly.

Pin Down - Bow Attack. If Pin Down hits, your target is Crippled for 3...13 seconds.

Lightning Reflexes - Stance. For 5...10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to block melee and projectile attacks, and you attack 33% faster.

I was wondering if they had something like this in mind; when they added Dhuum, I figured at some point they would add Menzies as well. And while it would no doubt be a welcome addition... the skills you described are f***ing ridiculous.

Dhuum needs something like this. They should give Dhuum a skill that removes enchantments, or make his Judgment skill do such a thing.

On topic, Menzies needs to make an appearance!!! I totally agree.

these skills make him untankable by a single character. 12 to 18 groups of Eternal that you can use as meat shields when Menzies beats you down Menzies needs to spawn a healer so you cant just go hey pain inverter. I would like to add another thing to the fight Manzies should have to special guardians that reduce the damage he takes so you can not do pain inverter they will be like body guards to the guild lord. He is not over powered because the encounter is designed for him to be powerful because you get lots of help.

No one have ever seen the guy.

It's not like you can't see gods. We saw Dhuum. And Kormir. We don't know about the other gods. Maybe their avatars look just like them like with Kormir, maybe not. And Abbadon was, well, all over the place.

But at least three we saw for sure.

The only unseen good is Menzies.

The Priest of Menzies reminds me of the evil Ashe in Army of Darkness, obsessed with the Necronomicon. It would be quite entertaining if they wrote some content as a humorous tribute to the Evil Dead series. They could pay Bruce Campbell to be the voice of Menzies. But alas, that ship has sailed.

I do like some of your ideas, but perhaps we will see something like this in a gw2 expansion involving Joko and Elona.

I truly don't want them spending too much creative energy on gw. They should just do enough to keep us playing until gw debuts.

sounds great! i would love to see Menzies. His green weapon should be called:

"Menzies' Frenzy"
Sword
15-22 Slashing Damage
+15% Damage(always)
minus 30 health

The Priest of menzies is a reference to Army of Darkness. Hence the name of the quest, Army of Darkness

Bah, I don't want another God to defeat, it's just not cool. Dhuum is ok, cos now you have to be halfway competent to clear UW, but Abaddon was just lame, and I figure, if this is a God, why the heck doesn't he just zap us with some God Beam or summat xD

i like this idea it encourages people to do fow in balanced way and not all speedclearing bullshit. because im sure manly way wont get this done.

You are thinking that the GW2 team and the GW1 team are the same, no? Just so you know, they are two totally different teams. John Stumme is now in charge of GW1, while Eric Flannum heads up a totally different team for GW2. GW1 content does not impede GW2 development at all.

@Andemius: Menzies is not a God. He is not worshiped by anyone, unless the shadow army does. They seem more like soldiers dedicated to the visions of their general than fanatics. We do not know much information other than he is Balthazar's half brother and that he allied with Dhuum and Abaddon.

Bah, a mere technicallity xD In any case, if we can have a "boss-like" foe, he'd be "God-Like". Anyhoo, according to wiki, he still sounds stong enuff to kill you easily, Abbadon was supposed to be a God, but he's pathetic, Dhuum is strong, but was only really implemented to stop UW SCs. Still, not liking the idea.

The problem is that they just don't do anything.. as far as i can remember , only serious updates we had since 2008 are nicholas traveler , zaishen quests and war in kryta . PvP didn't got any attention actually , and with no doubt , Heroes Ascent , GvG and codex will be totally empty in a few months...
